Underwater Portraiture Expert Consulting can be done in person, by phone, or via Skype. Ask anything about underwater portraiture and I’ll provide detailed explanations and share all the tips, tricks, and trade secrets I’ve accumulated through hundreds of hours of experimenting and practice in and out of the water.
The cost is $450 for one hour or $975 for five. Most divide the five hour option into 3-5 conversations and start with initial questions before working underwater. The others generally include new questions/challenges discovered in the pool, image review, strategies for improvement, and post processing of underwater portrait images.
In Person Instruction
An in person one on one workshop provides an immersive hands on experience for photographers who are excited about working underwater and looking for a concentrated way to learn as much as possible in the shortest amount of time. The workshops are two or three days and the exact curriculum is customized around your skills, experience, questions, curiosities, goals, and business needs. Each will include the following (or similar depending on your needs):
Demonstration and practice session in the pool where you’ll see how it’s done and get to try it out yourself
Image review and critique to include a list of things to work on in your second shoot
Basic editing overview so you can see the potential of your images once processed
Photo shoot with experienced underwater models that won’t need much direction and will make it easier to focus on mastering the technical aspects of underwater portraiture
Workflow and editing of your model shoot images in Lightroom and Photoshop including solutions to common challenges of underwater portraits
A real underwater portrait session so you can experience the everyday challenges with an expert on hand to help as much (or as little as) you want
The optional third day can include more shooting time in the pool with models, additional real sessions to help you build an underwater portfolio, or focus on the business and marketing side of underwater portraiture.
The cost is $1800 for two days or $2200 for three. This includes a one hour overview/goal setting session via Skype, a custom 2-3 day educational experience, and complimentary hotel accommodations and transportation to and from SeaTac International Airport. Add a friend, spouse, business partner, or colleague to either option for only $500 (double occupancy)
Private Small Group Workshops for 3-5 people are $3500/group for the two day option and $4500/group for the three day option.
Underwater Portrait Session Shadowing is $650 and allows you to watch an entire session unfold – from prep to final edits. You’re welcome to take notes and ask questions but please leave your camera at home. To shadow the portion at the pool only is $300 for one session or $500 for a block of 3-5 underwater portrait sessions scheduled throughout a day or weekend.
I’m also super excited to be teaching a Jump Start class on underwater portraiture at SYNC next February. Learn more here: http://syncseniors.com/?pageID=1012444
Workshops will take place in the greater Seattle/Eastside area unless other arrangements are made. I’d be happy to travel to your location for a nominal fee that varies based on the cost of travel from Seattle to your destination. Please note that travel is not usually available July 15 – October 15.
