I think so far everything I’ve blogged underwater has been of small children. They are incredibly cute but someone recently emailed me to ask if I would consider doing their senior portraits underwater. Well, yes, of course I would. Similar emails have been sent asking about maternity portraits under water and engagement portraits underwater and the answer is the same. Yep. I would love to. I’m also pleasantly surprised at the number of emails from people who tell me they don’t live in Seattle but really want me to do their underwater portraits and ask if I’d consider coming to them. I’ve said for years that I’d go anywhere on the planet for a couple I connected with planning a fun wedding but I won’t go down the street for a couple that doesn’t “get” what I do planning an uber traditional wedding. I think I feel the same about underwater portraits. And so far I have yet to run into any uber traditional people looking for boring underwater portraits. 🙂 And while I’m on the topic of underwater requests I’ll throw out one of my own – to be the photographer for an underwater wedding. I’ve joked for years while shooting that I wish I could just hover over things at weddings and since I started scuba diving last fall I’ve realized an underwater wedding would allow me to do just that.
I really did start writing this post to show off senior portraits underwater so without going on further tangents here are a few recent favorites:
The Floating Hat (Sunglasses are much more fun than goggles!)
This is one of those images that might technically be an outtake to most but the facial expression make me laugh so I’ve kept it:
I have a whole series of these three girls jumping into the pool but for now here is my favorite of the group:
