Something a little more natural…

I spent a lot of time last month in Seattle and although I found several neat places to shoot in the future I kept being drawn back to Greenlake. We’ve had some interesting weather and it seems no matter when I went I was awe struck but the stunning array of fall colors and picture perfect light that was nothing short of mystical. I didn’t always have the time to shoot photographs but one day I took a few minutes out of my hectic schedule and took pictures just for me.

The first is the least colorful of the bunch – but I felt that the lighting had a mystic feel to it that only appeared when I removed the bright colors:

Mystical lighting at Greenlake

Growing up my mom always loved the fall colors and we often went out and used them as backdrops for our family portraits. I really didn’t get how specacular they really were until I grew up. Between high school and college my best friend and I went on a thrilling two week road trip to Northern California. We started on the eastern side of the state and one thing I noticed was that it was brown and ugly for hundreds of miles. This was the fall that my mom had experienced growing up and suddenly I understood why she appreciated our Pacific Northwest Fall so much. Ever since I have loved fall and each year when the leaves turn I am taken back to an exciting time of life when I first experienced the freedom of adulthood.
