More Mercedes

Weddings are great for the storyteller in me and as such I try and keep the posed portrait session short and fun. Emphasis on short – because really weddings are full of excitement and emotion and this is the biggest party you’re ever going to throw so I prefer to let you enjoy your celebrations without interuptions as much as possible.

The thing is there is something genuinely beautiful and stunning about a woman in her wedding dress. In the south Bridal Portraits are more common and typically involve photographing the bride to be before her wedding so that an image of her in her gown can be displayed on wedding day. While that is all fine and dandy there is the great pressure to keep that dress clean and your options for shooting are somewhat limited. So, naturally I think it is more fun to go out after the wedding day and get a little dirty. Of course this works best if the brides isn’t emotionally attached to her wedding dress…then all sorts of crazy things can transpire…

Mercedes is not only one of the most photgenic people I’ve ever shot, but totally willing to trash her wedding dress. It was probably the only time I’ve ever taken pictures of a woman in a wedding dress and felt a little disappointed that the weather was warm and very sunny – I was hoping for some mud – and with all the rain we’ve had this month I’m itching to really trash her dress…but for now we just got it a wee bit dirty…

I blogged a few of these in September but now that things have slowed down for a few weeks in the wedding world I’ve finally had a chance to really play…

For those of you who don’t know I met Mercedes at Susan and Ze’s wedding and this image is for them – I think they like sun flair as much as I do…
