Tabitha – The Cozumel Sea Turtle

Yes, we named the two turtles we saw while diving in Mexico. The first one (which I shot from a distance in Puerta Adventuras  because I didn’t know how close you could get without being obnoxious…) we called Tommy and this one we named Tabitha.

Anyhow this was definately one of the highlights of the entire trip. Not only were we diving along an amazing wall this turtle came swimming by and watching it move through the water completely took my breath away. Fortunately I can shoot and swim against a strong current while breathless.  For the photographically inclined out there these were all shot with my D200 and Tokina 12-24 and have not been cropped.  Yes, I was that close and remember having to zoom out all the way to 12mm to fit the turtle in my frame. :)  And the little black specs are not signs of s dirty sensor but other fish.

I’ve included quite I few because I love watching how turtle really looks like she is flying through the sea. One of the most mesmerizing experiences of my life.:)
