Welcome to The Sacha Blue Blog!

I am a passionate wedding and portrait photographer based on a little island just outside of Seattle.

This is the place to see my latest favorite images, find all Sacha Blue announcements, and get to know the girl behind the camera.

I love telling stories, preserving genuine emotions, and basically making a moment in time stand still forever.

I love that people invite me to spend the best days of their lives with them. Even more I adore all of the amazing people I meet in the process and friendships I create along the way.

When I'm not working you're likely to find me at Luther Burbank playing with my dog, scuba diving in Puget Sound, eating Thai food with friends, or checking things off of my 30 By 30 List

The blog goes back almost four years and is updated often - so stay for a while, come back soon, and don't forget to bookmark The Sacha Blue Blog!

Senior Portraits Underwater in Issaquah

I think so far everything I’ve blogged underwater has been of small children. They are incredibly cute but someone recently emailed me to ask if I would consider doing their senior portraits underwater.  Well, yes, of course I would.  Similar emails have been sent asking about maternity portraits under water and engagement portraits underwater and the answer is the same.    Yep.    I would love to.    I’m also pleasantly surprised at the number of emails from people who tell me they don’t live in Seattle but really want me to do their underwater portraits  and ask if I’d consider coming to them.    I’ve said for years that I’d go anywhere on the planet for a couple I connected with planning a fun wedding but I won’t go down the street for a couple that doesn’t “get” what I do planning an uber traditional wedding.   I think I feel the same about underwater portraits.    And so far I have yet to run into any uber traditional people looking for boring underwater portraits.  :)    And while I’m on the topic of underwater requests I’ll throw out one of my own – to be the photographer for an underwater wedding.  I’ve joked for years while shooting that I wish I could just hover over things at weddings and since I started scuba diving last fall I’ve realized an underwater wedding would allow me to do just that.

I really did start writing this post to show off senior portraits underwater so without going on further tangents here are a few recent favorites:

The Floating Hat (Sunglasses are much more fun than goggles!)

This is one of those images that might technically be an outtake to most but the facial expression make me laugh so I’ve kept it:

I have a whole series of these three girls jumping into the pool but for now here is my favorite of the group:

One blog post at a time…

As  I sit here installing software and moving files to my new desktop I’ve come across the folder of images I have prepped for blogging.    As I glance through hundreds of thumbnails I’m a little overwhelmed at just how much I haven’t gotten around to posting.   But I know I have to start somewhere so I’ll just delve right in and see how quickly I can get caught up…

Here are some random puffy clouds I loved  last month…

And the tall grass below:

Brandie and Deron – An Engagement Session at Gene Coulon Park and Cedar River Park

Brandie and Deron are awesomely in love and I had a lot of fun playing in the sunshine with them during their recent engagement session.    We started at Gene Coulon Park where it seemed half the population of Renton was having some sort of celebration – here you’d never guess the number of children running back and forth behind them:

I loved the texture of these trees:

Spectacular clounds + big old tree + couple in love = happy Sacha

Next we headed to the nearby Cedar River Park which was full of amazing light and plenty of sun flair:

I’m sure you’ll sent plenty more of these two on the blog as their engagement party is this weekend and their wedding follows in August.
